KCI Switzerland and University Hospital Zurich Host Inaugural Swiss V.A.C.® Therapy Day
The University Hospital Zurich and KCI hosted the inaugural Swiss V.A.C.® Therapy Day in Zurich on November 23, 2018. The event was aimed at sharing the latest evidence and expert opinions in advanced wound care to surgeons and practitioners from a number of specialties including orthopedic, plastic, general, cardiothoracic, vascular and trauma surgery. Fourteen renowned experts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland shared their expertise, data, and surgical cases to more than 120 delegates. Attendees also enjoyed and participated in an impressive level of interaction and debate with the esteemed faculty.
To kick off the meeting, Professor Wim Fleischmann, MD, gave attendees a historical overview of the development of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) and instillation therapy. Four series of lectures were chaired by Professor Gerrolt Jukema, MD, of University Hospital Zurich, on topics including instillation therapy, instillation therapy in plastic surgery, NPWT in visceral surgery, and infection prevention and home care.
The diverse lectures gave attendees a wide range of knowledge across specialties, including case studies and new approaches for the use of NPWT and instillation therapy, as well as the larger KCI product portfolio. Workshops were also held to guide clinicians in hands-on experience. Product exhibits also allowed attendees to touch and feel the latest innovations in wound care and exchange information through peer-to-peer dialogue.
